There are no shortage of iconic rides at Walt Disney World. Space Mountain, Test Track, Pirates of the Caribbean and Kali River Rapids are just a few rides whose names are recognized around the world. While these rides blend high-octane thrills with recognizable characters for an experience that's fun for the whole family, they're also likely to have the longest waits, eating away at your day, line by line.
Sometimes, a slower pace is exactly what you need. Especially true if you've been waiting in line under the hot Florida sun, weighed down by turkey legs and churros. That's why Disney's "boring" rides are some of the best ones. So, sit back, enjoy the air conditioning, and get out of the rain with these boring rides.
Carousel of Progress
The Carousel of Progress is the perfect ride for when it's hot and/or rainy. The revolving theater is both dark and comfy, making this the perfect choice for a post-lunch attraction that won't disturb your digestion. Additionally, at 21 minutes long without any thrills, the Carousel of Progress is the best chance you'll get for an on-site nap.
However, we don't recommend you nap through the whole show. If you do, you'll miss a charming walk through a century of technological innovations. While veering too hard into sentimental Americana can get dicey, the Carousel of Progress is optimism at its finest: celebrating how far we've come and where we'll go next.
PeopleMover
Theme Park Tourist on Wikimedia
The PeopleMover is like an old friend, whether it's your first visit or hundredth. The continuously moving track means that posted waits of five minutes are generous, as you can often walk right up. The PeopleMover takes you on a sedate 15-minute journey through Tomorrowland, which makes it the perfect introduction for park newbies.
Not only do you get backstage looks at some of the flashier attractions such as Space Mountain and TRON Lightcycle Run, you also get some of the most beautiful views in the park. This is especially true if you're visiting during Halloween and Christmas, when you can get great shots of Cinderella's castle unobstructed by pedestrians.
Living With The Land
Living with the Land is edutainment at its finest. This gentle boat ride takes you through greenhouses, aquacells, and prairies to learn about agriculture. While this sounds boring, even in terms of boring rides, you shouldn't overlook Living with the Land.
Living with the Land's focus on sustainable farming is one of the best examples of Epcot's ethos of innovation. Not only does the food grown in these greenhouses feed guests, it also feeds cast members and the animals at Animal Kingdom! This ride is the perfect appetizer if you plan on eating around the world at World Showcase.
Spaceship Earth
For people who come to Epcot for the thrill rides or to drink around the world, Spaceship Earth is little more than the entrance to the park. However, Spaceship Earth has a cult following for a reason. This trip through time has been delighting audiences for 40 years and counting.
Spaceship Earth uses vivid sets and detailed animatronics to explore. communication from cave painting to cell phones. There's also lovely narration by Judi Dench, written by Ray Bradbury, and accompanied by one of Disney's best musical scores. Don't forget to thank the Phoenicians for the alphabet that let you read this article!
