See the World Without a Plane
Flying may be fast, but that doesn’t mean everyone enjoys it. Fortunately, there are plenty of other ways to get around, and some of them can make the journey just as memorable as the destination. Come with us as we explore a few ways you can get around the world.
Take a Long-Distance Train
Train travel is one of the easiest alternatives if you still want to cover serious distance without driving on your own. Best of all, you can get up, stretch your legs, watch the scenery change, and actually bring more luggage without raising any flags. Sleeper trains can even turn an overnight journey into part transportation and part hotel stay.
Plan a Road Trip
If you want control over your schedule, driving will likely suit you better than flying. A road trip lets you stop whenever something catches your eye, take detours, and pack the car without obsessing over baggage limits. The downside is the extra travel time, but that’s a small cost for anyone terrified of the skies.
Travel by Ferry
Water travel can be surprisingly practical anywhere with strong ferry networks! Instead of racing through an airport, you can board and watch the coastline drift by. Longer cruises can also connect multiple destinations, so you’ll see more than you bargained for.
Use Long-Distance Buses
Buses aren’t glamorous, but modern long-distance coaches are more comfortable than people expect. Many have reclining seats, Wi-Fi, and overnight services between major cities. They’re also frequently cheaper than trains, so don’t count them out.
Build a Trip Around Multiple Transport Types
No one said you had to choose one method and stick with it. A vacation could easily involve driving to one city, taking a train to another, and finishing with a ferry. Combining different forms can open up routes you might otherwise overlook!
